Loosely attach the interior side of the cat door frame to the hollow wooden door by driving the center screw of each side into. Use your pencil or marker to trace around the template to create the shape that youll cut out to make room for the door. Using a strong glue fit the frame around the hole in the door on the inside of the door.
Once youve got the measurement mark it on the outside surface of the door then draw a straight horizontal line of about 665 inches or 169mm. Insert the interior side of the cat door into the opening on the door. The holes give you enough room at each corner to turn the saw and make your next cut. Select a metal cutting blade long enough to cut through both sides of the door at once.
Place the template in the desired location on the door at least 3 inches above the bottom edge of the door. Remove the template and discard it. Connect the actual door to the frame. Cut out the template as instructed.
Fit the other half of the frame and secure it. Use masking tape to attach the template to the door in the desired location using your level to make sure the door is oriented straight and flush with the rest of the door. If your pet door doesnt include a template use the plastic slide as a template. To begin with trace around the outer edge of the back frame as a size guide.
Position the template on the outside of the door in. Remove the pet door template from the package. Following the instructions that came with the pet door insert the main pet door frame into the hole and secure it to the wooden frame you have created.
